New Music Monday #8: Love Is A Story

Love Is A Story: the band is doing everything right, especially online. Love Is A Story is a one man project from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Today there are many kids picking up a keyboard, a Moog, and some vocal tools and hitting the studio, but Love Is A Story produces some solid songs with an overwhelming online presence.

They have music for sale on I-Tunes, have had music played on MTV's The Real World, and have over 75,000 myspace fans. They are an unsigned band.

This New Music Monday is again focused on the work that this band, and actually this single artist is doing. While music is still much about luck and talent, hard work can still be king. If a single artist can accomplish all of this from Oklahoma there really are no excuses for a four or five piece band in Los Angeles or New York. However, what is especially interesting about Love Is A Story is that they are not from Los Angeles or New York. Location is becoming less important in the music industry. Where an independent artist could most likely never make enough in a month on I-Tunes to live in New York, the housing in Oklahoma is much more reasonable.

Overall the music is solid, the songs are catchy, and the desire is there. One thing I would like to see more out of Love Is A Story would be more tour dates, especially because touring could be done in a very fuel efficient car. A great example of what can be accomplished.
