Today's T3 is going to be short and sweet (but probably the most important tip I will ever give you):
BUILD COMMUNITY WHEREVER YOU GO!
Be nice. Be honest. Be upfront. Be welcoming. Make people feel good about being there with you; share experiences and listen to others. Always do a merch swap (even if you don't like the band or the merch). Always listen to the other artists performing. Go out to dinner with other bands, fans, and promoters whenever you can. Share guitars, picks, strings, sticks, and whatever you can. Tip the sound guy and the bartenders (even when you don't make any money.) Play your ass off every night, even when there's no one watching.
Trust me, this 'community' stuff is powerful!
