So far all of our Music Website Wednesdays have focused on music business based websites that are helpful to bands and artists in moving their music careers forward. Musicians and bands, however, usually do not just work with music, they listen to music all the time. One website that is often playing here at the Cleveland location of Modern Revival Media is Pandora.
Pandora is a next generation radio station. Pandora gives the listener some control and input but still leaves the song selection somewhat up to chance. A listener can choose an artist they enjoy and Pandora will select similar artists or genres that the listener may never have heard of. Additionally, a listener can decide whether they like the Pandora selection or if they never want to hear the selected song again. The only downside is that the listener is unable to select a specific song, so if you are dying to hear a certain track you may have to wait a while.
For those bands and artists who just can not stop thinking about their music careers, we love you for that, Pandora is currently upgrading to an online song submission to upload your music to have it included in the Music Genome Project which supplies music to Pandora.
